SOCHI, Russia — Of course, it’s way too early to speculate about what will happen once the Olympics ends and the NHL trade freeze lifts.

What likely won’t happen is another story.

The struggling Kings appeared bound and determined to make a move before the Olympics. Much of the talk revolved around Edmonton Oilers forward Sam Gagner.

That particular move, still, was not close to being completed before the trade freeze.

Things always have a way of changing, but it now appears doubtful that the Kings will resume their pursuit of Gagner.
