Three UCLA Bruins chosen in first round of NBA draft

Thursday was a banner day for UCLA basketball as the Bruins’ Zach LaVine, Jordan Adams and Kyle Anderson were selected in the first round of the NBA draft.

A full story about the trio’s draft experiences will be published Sunday, but here are some fast facts:

—The Timberwolves drafted LaVine at a lottery slot, 13th overall. The Grizzlies took Adams at No. 22, and the Spurs drafted Anderson at No. 30, somewhat later than expected.

—The 2014 draft marked the second time that three Bruins were drafted in the first round. David Greenwood, Roy Hamilton and Brad Holland also went in the first round in 1979.

—UCLA and Michigan were the only schools with three players selected in this year’s draft. The Wolverines’ Nik Stauskas and Mitch McGary were chosen in the first round, and Glenn Robinson III went in the second.

—The Bruins have had multiple first-round picks nine times in NBA draft history.

—LaVine joins three former Bruins in Minnesota: Kevin Love, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and Shabazz Muhammad.
