It might get lost in the shuffle of the sporting landscape, but the 2014 USA Track & Field outdoor championships begin Wednesday in Sacramento with the shot put competition.

The meet will continue through the weekend with a schedule that features numerous high-profile events.

In the women’s competition, Olympians will include Allyson Felix in 100 meters, Jenn Suhr in the pole vault and Lolo Jones, who is coming off her bobsled foray at the 2014 Sochi Games to run the 100-meter hurdles.

The men’s 400 meters will feature two-time Olympic gold medalist LaShawn Merritt, and the 10,000-meter field will include Galen Rupp.

In the decathlon, Olympic silver medalist Trey Hardee will look to rebound from last year’s disappointment, when he withdrew from the national championship with a hamstring injury.

NBC and its cable networks will begin coverage on Friday. Events can also be seen live at USATF.tv.
