USC football: De’Von Flournoy ready for more opportunities

Share

USC receiver De’Von Flournoy has been in the USC program for a long time.

So the fifth-year senior was ecstatic about his role in the Trojans’ 19-3 victory over Utah last week.

Flournoy caught two passes for 45 yards, including a play that went 31 yards because of his extra effort after an initial hit.

“It’s a tremendous feeling to be be part of a ‘W’ and actually contribute on the stat sheet,” Flournoy said.

Flournoy could get more opportunities Friday night when USC plays at Oregon State.

Marqise Lee is questionable because of a knee injury, so sophomore Nelson Agholor, freshman Darreus Rogers and Flournoy could again be the primary receivers.

Flournoy played in four games as a freshman in 2009 but did not catch a pass. He redshirted in 2010, appeared in six games in 2011 and caught one pass last season.

He had two receptions this season against Boston College and another against Notre Dame before making his big play against Utah.

“I’ve been here awhile — I’m a root here,” Flournoy joked. “I’ve grown with the place. … So it feels good.”
