Watch: JUCO football game called off after massive brawl

A football game between East Mississippi Community College and Mississippi Delta Community College was called off before halftime Thursday after a massive brawl broke out on the field in Moorhead, Miss.

Players from both teams came to blows in the final minute of the first half, with East Mississippi leading Mississippi Delta, 48-0.

The massive fight was caused when an East Mississippi receiver was tackled out of bounds and pushed back into the dirt, though a Twitter account for East Mississippi indicated that there had been "problems between players since pregame."

A video of the fight shows numerous players from both teams throwing punches and trash cans being thrown on the field.

"This incident does not represent the sportsmanship that we expect of our student athletes at Mississippi Delta Community College," Mississippi Delta said in a statement Friday. "The college is cooperating with the league investigation into the incident. MDCC will not tolerate this type of behavior and will begin its own internal investigation."

East Mississippi is ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA poll.

The game was both schools' regular-season finale.
