UCLA linebacker Myles Jack was certainly on the minds of Washington fans Saturday.

Jack went unnoticed through the first quarter of the Bruins’ 44-30 victory at Husky Stadium. Then he came in on offense in the second quarter.

Jack swept right on a five-yard run on his first carry. When his name was said over the public address system, Huskies fans responded by booing loudly.

Jack played at Bellevue (Wash.) High near the Washington campus. He had a contentious game against Washington last season, when he ran for four touchdowns. After one, he taunted Washington players on the Huskies’ sideline by licking his fingers.

“I heard it,” Jack said. “I guess it was a little payback from the previous year.”

In the end, Jack had last laugh. He burst through a big hole on a third-and-two play, spun out of a tackle and rumbled 28 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. Then, he had to wait for referees to call the touchdown.

“I had the ball, looking at him like, ‘Are you guys going to say touchdown or should I get ready for the next play,’ ” Jack said. “They were looking at each other for about 10 seconds. Finally one of the refs [put his hands up].”

Jack finished with 38 yards in four carries.

Meanwhile, linebacker Shaq Thompson, Washington’s two-way player, finished with 100 yards rushing.

Walker strikes

UCLA receiver Kenneth Walker III has his moments. They may be few and far between, but they are big.

Walker made his second reception of the season Saturday. He sprinted past the Huskies’ secondary, hauling in a pass from quarterback Brett Hundley for a 57-yard touchdown.

Walker’s only other catch this season was a 62-yard touchdown reception against Memphis.

Of course, Walker messed up his perfect touchdown-to-catch percentage with an eight-yard reception in the third quarter.

Hundley on top

Hundley’s touchdown pass to Walker gave him 69 career touchdown passes to break Cade McNown’s UCLA record. McNown (1995-1998) had 68 in 44 starts. Hundley has started 37 games.

Hundley threw for 302 yards and two touchdowns Saturday. He also scored on runs of four and six yards, giving him 27 for his career. He is second to Gary Beban (1965-67), who had 35.

Perkins climbs list

Running back Paul Perkins had 98 rushing yards to move into ninth place on the UCLA single-season list. He has 1,172 yards. Skip Hicks, who had 1,227 yards in 1997, is eighth.

Quick hits

Ka’imi Fairbairn had three field goals, including a 47-yarder. He is nine for 20 on field-goal attempts of 40 or more yards. … Fullback Nate Iese (shoulder) sat out Saturday’s game. Linebacker Isaako Savaiinaea played fullback in Iese’s place. … Thomas Duarte (hamstring) played his first game in three weeks. He had three catches for 34 yards. That included a diving, twisting grab on a ball that was tipped. … Alex Redmond started at guard in place of Malcolm Bunche, who has an undisclosed injury.
