UCLA announces naming opportunities for new football center

Have a lot of money and like seeing your name on things? UCLA has the perfect opportunity for you!

On Thursday, the athletic department announced that the football program’s new facility will be called the Wasserman Football Facility, after Casey Wasserman and the Wasserman Foundation. The school has raised $43 million of its $50-million goal, and is hoping to combat some of those costs by offering naming opportunities to people with money to spare.

The biggest donation listed is $1 million, for people who want things like the players’ lounge or “recruiting lounge and terrace” named after them. For a cool $500,000, you can have the barbershop named after you. Or, you could just open a barbershop of your own with that money, but I digress.

Most of the donations are for a quarter of a million dollars, so for when a player is craving a cheeseburger but goes for the juicer instead, a nice $250,000 check will get you the naming rights to the nutrition room. All of the positional groups apparently have their own meeting rooms — do the inside linebackers and outside linebackers really need separate spaces?

The cheapest donation is $2,500, which is for individual lockers and is limited to student-athlete alumni only.
