A handful of players have been in defensive back Lamar Jackson’s ear this week at The Opening, he said.

“Everywhere I go, everybody is always ‘USC, UCLA ... Michigan,’ all types of things like that,” Jackson said.

Jackson, from Franklin High in Elk Grove, Calif., has yet to announce a college commitment and hasn’t even narrowed his list of offers.

With no official list of favorites, Jackson said USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington and Michigan would make the cut -- plus a few more.

Jackson, 6 feet 2 1/2 and 209 pounds, has made a few unofficial visits to USC and UCLA.

“I went down there a couple times, it’s just a great vibe every time I go there, and the coaches show nothing but love,” Jackson said about USC.

When asked why he liked the Bruins, Jackson mentioned defensive backs coach Demetrice Martin. “Coach Meat is one of my favorite coaches, just the way he comes at things, he keeps it real, so I respect that a lot,” he said.

Jackson will make five official visits and could commit before signing day.
