Boston College will wear red bandanna uniforms against USC

The Boston College football team will proudly wear patterns of a red bandanna on Saturday against USC.

The special-edition uniforms and gear were designed to honor the memory of Welles Crowther, a former Eagles lacrosse player, on the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Crowther died at the World Trade Center where, according to survivor accounts, he heroically saved as many as 12 lives. Survivors identified him by the signature red bandanna he carried.

The Eagles will distribute 6,000 red bandannas to their student section.

Before departing for Boston, USC Coach Steve Sarkisian spoke to players in a team meeting about Sept. 11 and showed them a feature on Crowther’s story.
