USC begins spring practice March 3. We’ll preview each position group before workouts begin.

Tailbacks

Key departure: Javorius Allen

Key returning players: Fifth-year senior Tre Madden and junior Justin Davis

Outlook: Madden and Davis are the only scholarship tailbacks on the roster.

Davis rushed for 595 yards and four touchdowns in 129 carries last season. He caught 13 passes, two for touchdowns.

Davis fumbled four times in the first seven games.

Madden was sidelined because of a toe injury.

In 2013, Madden started the first six games and rushed for more than 100 yards in four of the first five before suffering a hamstring injury against Arizona that slowed or sidelined him the rest of the season. He finished with 703 yards and three touchdowns.
