Readers recommend: B & B in Carthage, Mo.
For travelers who enjoy gracious hosts as well as lovely old houses, I recommend the Grand Avenue Bed & Breakfast in Carthage, Mo. My 86-year-old sister and I enjoyed their Missouri hospitality, which included a generous library of books and movies. Breakfasts were delightful, as was the tea we enjoyed. The Branson music scene is only an hour and a half from Carthage. It’s lovely country with lovely people.
Grand Avenue Bed & Breakfast, 1615 Grand Ave., Carthage; (888) 380-6786, https://www.grand-avenue.com. Weekday rates from $77.
