Comic-Con celebrity party guide

Mixed in with all the storm troopers and caped crusaders at this weekend’s Comic-Con in San Diego, you are also certain to find a good number of Hollywood celebrities. Yes, sometimes they’ll be tucked away behind a very tough velvet rope, but here is a list of some of the weekend’s hottest star parties.

Camp Playboy: As a salute to fanboys and a vintage take on summer, Playboy will construct a fairground on 6th Street come Friday evening, where chosen ones will enjoy croquet, horseshoes, bonfires and a zipline — all around a lake shaped like the brand’s signature bunny. RSVPs include Stephen Dorff, Don Johnson, Colton Haynes, Ian Somerhalder, Adam Brody, Idris Elba, “Bucky Larson’s” Nick Swardson and, of course, Playboy playmates like Kimberly Phillips.

Wired Cafe: Returning to the Palm Terrace at San Diego’s Omni Hotel (just a few steps from the convention center), the Wired Cafe will offer a full bar, charging stations and plenty of gossip from the Main Hall all weekend long. Last year’s Wired pop-up brought vampire fangs and hero capes — and the stars that wear them.

Maxim / FX: The lad mag will help the cable network celebrate several of its shows making presentations at Comic-Con, like “The League” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” Expect Elijah Wood, Aisha Tyler, Kaitlin Olson, Danny DeVito and Charlie Day on Friday at the Hotel Solamar.

Entertainment Weekly: On Saturday, EW will celebrate its 5th annual Comic-Con bash at Float, the rooftop bar at San Diego’s Hard Rock Hotel. For the anniversary, look for Jon Favreau, Maggie Q, Kellan Lutz, Nathan Fillion, Peter Dinklage and Vivica A. Fox to mingle over cocktails and game stations loaded with Batman: Arkham City.

Syfy / E!: Also on Saturday, the Hotel Solamar will welcome bold-faced names for the Syfy Network and E!’s comic salute, promising Steven Soderbergh, Joe Manganiello, Seth Green, Colin Ferguson, True Blood’s Kristin Bauer van Straten and Lake Bell. Aside from superhero talk, E! will keep buzz going by streaming celeb arrivals live on its website.
