Glaciers and peaks are the stars of this Patagonia hiking and camping adventure

Share

Adventurous globetrotters with a fondness for South America and high-energy experiences may be drawn to a new, nine-day Patagonia Passion trek that will focus on Torres del Paine National Park and the Fitz Roy Massif.

The hiking-camping trips begin next February, which is summertime in the Southern Hemisphere.

Travelers can join groups of 10 or fewer to hike through stunning landscapes during a week-long full-circuit trek of southern Chile’s Torres del Paine using a less-traveled route.

Guides who have climbed extensively in Patagonia will share hidden gems as well as their experiences.

Next up is Argentina’s Perito Moreno Glacier, one of only three glaciers in Patagonia that are growing. Participants walk on the ice with local guides to get a closer look at the Los Glaciares National Park landmark too.

They’ll also dine on an authentic Argentine asado, or fire-cooked meal. On the final day, there’s a hike to Lago de los Tres at the foot of the Fitz Roy Massif.

The nine-day, eight-night trek costs $3,995, including experienced guides; group gear (tents, stoves, cooking equipment, satellite phones, etc.); park and back-country hut fees and ground transportation while on the tour.

Airfare to Punta Arenas, Chile, and from Calafate, Argentina, is not included, nor are personal camping and trekking gear (clothing, trekking poles, sleeping bag, etc.); alcoholic beverages (aside from those provided during meals); early departure from the trip; or any costs before or after the specified trip dates. Custom itineraries can also be arranged.
