New York City: Hotel Week debuts with rooms for $100-$250

Scratch a New Year’s Eve trip to Times Square off your to-do list. There’s a better time for a January visit, with big savings on some of the city’s most interesting hotels. Taking a cue from successful restaurant weeks that slash prices to woo visitors during the January doldrums, the Hotel @ Times Square, Andaz Wall Street, two Gansevoort hotels and others have signed on to New York City’s first Hotel Week.
The deal: I like the hotels that are participating in Hotel Week, and I like the prices even better. To make reservations, call individual hotels and mention “Hotel Week.” Among the hotels and rates:
--$100 a night at the Pod Hotel, Z NYC Hotel, the Hotel @ Times Square and nyma;
--$200 for Andaz Wall Street and Hyatt 48 Lex;
--$250 a night at Gansevoort (Meatpacking District and Park Avenue).
Prices don’t include tax. No minimum stay is required with this offer.
When: Hotel Week runs Jan. 6-15.
Tested: I found availability for $200 rooms from Jan. 9-12 for a king room at the Andaz Wall Street ($335 regular rate on the same nights) and for a studio queen room at the Hyatt 48 Lex ($299 daily rate on the same nights); prices exclude tax.
Info: Contact participating hotels to make a reservation.
