If you’re willing to bundle up and don’t mind the cold, Pacific Delight Tours has an airfare-included tour in December that highlights major attractions in Japan and China.
The 10-day excursion begins in Tokyo, where you will have a full day to visit the Meiji Shrine, the Imperial Palace Plaza and the Ginza shopping district. The next day it’s out to the countryside to take in the views from halfway up Mt. Fuji and to visit the Owakudani Boiling Valley and Lake Ashi.
A bullet train then whisks participants to Kyoto, where Nijo Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Kinkakuji Temple are among the stops. Up next is a flight to Beijing for a three-night stay and visits to the Imperial Palace, in the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace and the Great Wall, among other sites.
Dates: Dec. 3
Price: From $3,449 per person, double occupancy (includes $300 discount per couple), based on departure from Los Angeles or San Francisco. Includes accommodations, round-trip airfare, intra-Asia transportation, airport and hotel transfers and English-speaking guides.
