Four Seasons’ Chef Fest lights up Hawaii Island with celebrity chefs, tantalizing meals

If you’re still not sure whether Hawaii has come into its foodie own, check out the Chef Fest this month at the Four Seasons on Hawaii Island.
The Oct. 28-31 Chef Fest at the Four Seasons Hualalai and will feature interactive cooking classes, wine tastings and, of course, irresistible dinners.
Celebrity chefs include author and restaurateur Jonathan Waxman, Hugh Acheson, the author of several popular cookbooks; international restaurateur Seamus Mullen; Naomi Pomeroy of the Beast in Portland, Ore.
You need not be a pro-level chef to benefit; activities for cooks with varied levels of experience are offered. Each event is individually priced.
Here’s a sampling:
Grand Tasting ($65), 6 p.m. Oct. 28: Celebrity chefs will be at their stations to chat with guests while preparing small plates, each paired with wine.
Paddling with the chefs ($50), 8 a.m. Oct. 29: After joining the chefs on stand-up boards and in outriggers, guests will be treated to brunch.
Mixology class ($50), 3 p.m. Oct. 29: Taught by Chandra Lucariello of Southern Wine & Spirits of Hawaii.
Interactive cooking class with Naomi Pomeroy ($50), 11:30 a.m. Oct. 30.
Blind wine tasting class ($150), 3 p.m. Oct. 30: Taught by master sommelier Roberto Viernes.
Beach cookout with wine ($140), 6 p.m. Oct. 30: An international lineup of chefs will be making dinner.
Interactive cooking class with Hugh Acheson ($50): 11:30 a.m. Oct. 31.
Gala dinner and after-party ($180), 6 p.m. Oct. 31: All chefs will be participating in the festival finale, which includes wine.
