WHERE TO STAY

WHAT TO DO

Wy’East Day Lodge at Timberline, (503) 272-3158, (503) 222-2211. Equipment rentals, lockers, restaurants and gift shop. Operating hours are 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. daily; longer in fall and winter. Lift tickets are $54 for all ages.

The Courses, the Resort at the Mountain, 68010 E. Fairway Ave., Welches, Ore.; (503) 622-3151, https://www.theresortcourses.com. From June through September, greens fees start at $28 for nine holes. Other activities include bike rental, tennis, croquet and lawn bowling, and 18-hole putt-putt course, for $5 to $8 a person. Activities are free for hotel guests.

WHERE TO EAT

Mallards Café & Pub, the Resort at the Mountain; (503) 622-3101, Ext. 1762. The café offers generous salads and sandwiches, such as the oyster club with tomato aioli ($12).

Ram’s Head, Timberline Lodge, (503) 272-3391, Ext. 4456. This open mezzanine-level eatery offers entrees such as barbecued pulled pork sandwich ($14) and smoked salmon Caesar salad ($14). There is a selection of local brews and 20 coffee and chocolate specialty drinks.

Cascade Dining Room, Timberline Lodge, (503) 272-3104. The elegant Cascade serves breakfast, brunch and dinner, and is open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Farmers Market Brunch, featuring locally grown goods, is served buffet style every day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and costs $16.95 a person and up. Dinner entrees range from $21 to $38.
