France: Seine River cruise to honor D-Day anniversary
June 6 marks the 70th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy and the beginning of the end of World War II. To commemorate the occasion, Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection is offering an all-inclusive Paris and Normandy cruise on the Seine River.
Guests will have a choice of excursions that include the D-Day Museum at Arromanches, the Juno Beach Centre, which honors the Canadian war effort, the Allied landing sites at Omaha Beach and the Normandy American Cemetery (and wreath-laying ceremony) in Colleville-sur-Mer.
The cruise also takes in the art-rich region with excursions to Monet’s garden in Giverny, the harbor town of Honfleur, where Courbet set up his easel, and Auvers-sur-Oise, where Van Gogh spent the last two months of his life. The last day is spent touring Paris, with a two-night extension available at an additional cost.
Dates: Departure dates from March 16 through Oct. 26.
Price: From $3,199 per person, double occupancy, on the recently remodeled River Baroness. Includes all meals on board, receptions and gala dinners, excursions and gratuities. Port charges and international airfare are not included.
