Special to the Los Angeles Times

The iconic and storied Hotel Georgia, part of the Vancouver skyline since 1927, is set to reopen Friday under management by the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts luxury group. The Canadian hotel had been shuttered for renovations during the last five years.

The 155-room Georgian Revival-style hotel includes more than 100 crystal chandeliers, a spa, an indoor swimming pool, a jazz lounge and Hanksworth, a restaurant helmed by Chef David Hanksworth.

Among past guests, according to the hotel, have been Elvis Presley, Nat “King” Cole, Katharine Hepburn, Louis Armstrong, the Rolling Stones and British royalty.

Rosewood is offering introductory rates and discounts for a month.

The deal: Choose a superior king room for about $197 (or $192.70 Canadian; two nights minimum). Or you can get 50% off certain rooms and suites. Both offers require prepayment and are not refundable.

When: Valid Friday through Aug. 14, subject to availability.

Tested: On Wednesday, I found availability for the $192.70 (Canadian) rate for a superior king room for a two-night stay July 25-26. Converted to U.S. dollars, the total for two nights was about $395, or $450 including tax. The calendar on the hotel’s website showed availability for this deal during July but not in August.

I also tried out the 50%-off deal, test-booking a premier executive room for the same dates. That stay totaled about $502, or $572 including taxes. The calendar on the hotel’s website showed availability for this deal in both July and August.

Tip: After you choose your dates on the website, you can choose your currency too, using a drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the page.
