Book 2 hotel nights with Orbitz and get $200 off your next summer vacation

In honor of its 10th year, the travel website Orbitz is handing out extras to those who make hotel reservations in the next week. Book two nights at selected hotels and score a $25 dining coupon and a $200 coupon good for future travel purchased through Orbitz. If the dates work for you, this offer could be a sweet way to save money on a summer trip.

The deal: The coupons are part of Orbitz’s 10th Anniversary Hotel Sale. You have to stay at least two nights at qualifying hotels (they are marked on the website with special anniversary logos) to receive the $25 gift certificate from Restaurant.com and the $200 off an Orbitz flight-and-hotel package of at least five nights. Coupons are sent by e-mail three to five days after the hotel transaction.

When: The coupon offers are good for reservations at selected hotels made by 11:59 p.m. PDT Wednesday. The future travel coupon must be redeemed by Sept. 30.

Tested:I went to Orbitz’s website and found availability for a package called the “Great Getaway” at the Millennium Hilton in Lower Manhattan (55 Church St.) The two-night stay starting July 8 came with breakfast and cost $191 plus tax; the price was nonrefundable.

I found the same package on the same dates for the same price by going to the hotel’s website. But, of course, that price doesn’t include the coupons. Bottom line: The key to this deal is making the coupons work for you.
