Your Scene: Intha fisherman of Inle Lake, Myanmar

Share

The fisherman in this photo isn’t dangling his leg over the water just for fun. He’s rowing (notice the oar he’s holding against his leg, though the setting sun makes it hard to distinguish leg from the oar).

During a trip to Myanmar this past March, Jay Stein shot this photo of an Intha fisherman in action. The Intha people of Inle Lake are renowned for their unique rowing style. The fishermen use one of their legs to propel their vessels.

Stein, a Beverly Hills resident, used a Canon EOS 50D.
