It isn’t always easy being a dad. Sometimes a guy just wants to rip off his catcher’s mitt and hit the road – on a thundering two-wheeler. No motorcycle? No problem. You can rent one and get a deal too.

The deal: EagleRider, which bills itself as the world’s largest motorcycle rental company, is offering what it calls a Father’s Day Special, which is actually good all this month and not just for dads. It gives renters an extra day of on-the-road freedom on the house when they book two or more days.

The offer is good on everything from cruisers and sport bikes to scooters, touring bikes, even trikes. Twenty-one types of rides are available from Harley-Davidson, Honda, BMW, Triumph and Vespa. Prices range from $35 per day for a Vespa LX 50 to $133 for a Harley-Davidson Electra Glide to $245 per day for a Honda Goldwing trike.

The fine print: The special is available at most of EagleRider’s 70 U.S. locations, except EagleRider Los Angeles; Las Vegas BMW; Houston-Stafford; Stuart, Fla.; Dallas; Jackson Hole, Wyo.; and Billings, Mont. Riders must be at least 21 years old and have a valid motorcycle license. Mileage is unlimited. Fill-ups are on the rider, but helmets are required in most locations, so they’re provided free.

When: Good through June 30, except during motorcycle events or rallies; subject to availability.

Tested: Clicking on the flaming “hot deals” link on the EagleRider website, I was immediately dropped inside my own email with a pre-written form for me to fill out and return to EagleRider.

Filling in Ontario, Calif., as my pick-up and drop-off location, and using June 24 as my start date, I requested a three-day rental for a Harley-Davidson Road King. Within a few minutes, I received a return email letting me know the bike was available at a total cost of $358.66 for three days, including taxes. By comparison, the three-day rental would have cost me $503.66 without the special.

To confirm the deal, riders need to email back a reservation confirmation form and credit card information.

Contact: EagleRider, (888) 900-9901.
