The deal: Quark Expeditions marks its first flash sale with savings on four Antarctic Explorer trips and/or half off the single supplement. Each cruise begins and ends at the tip of Argentina at Ushuaia, then crosses the Drake Passage and stops at the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula. Payment is due in full for this sale.

When: The offer is good from 5:30 a.m. Monday to 5 p.m. Thursday for trips leaving Argentina on Nov. 13, 19 and 29.

Tested: It’s hard to evaluate a deal like this because it’s all about how travel-ready you are and how much you want to spend. The per-person saving is spectacular but a last-minute, round-trip ticket to Ushiaia from L.A. could set you back $1,888 to $3,085 each. (I found the prices on a quick Kayak.com search). For those who can pounce and cash in air miles, this promises a great savings -- and a great adventure.
