San Antonio: 15% off two nights or more at luxe Riverwalk hotel

Anyone who has strolled along San Antonio’s Riverwalk undoubtedly has stopped to peek at the luxury Mokara Hotel & Spa and its waterside Ostra restaurant. The 99-room hotel with an expansive spa is expensive, but those who stay at least two nights (how is that hard?) receive a 15% discount.

The deal: In 2010, Omni Hotels & Resorts took over and rebranded what was the Watermark Hotel. The Mokara annually racks up travel accolades; this year it turned up on lists of Travel + Leisure’s 500 best hotels and Conde Nast Traveler’s Gold and Platinum picks. The hotel offers an ideal location to take off on foot and explore the Riverwalk as well as the Alamo and nearby historic neighborhoods.

Guests who stay at least two nights with the Retreat and Relax package receive 15% off the daily room rate -- bringing the price on this tony hotel to less than $300 a night. The rate is nonrefundable and must be paid in full when you reserve.

When: The deal is good through Dec. 31, subject to availability.

Tested: I found availability at discounted rates for a midweek stay (Sept. 9-11) for $245 a night and a weekend stay (Sept. 14-16) for $279 a night, excluding tax. Again, not a bargain price, but a good one for those who want to experience the luxury at this hotel and save a little.
