It’s cold in Beijing in winter, but it’s also the cheapest time to visit the Chinese capital. China Spree each year between November and March offers air-hotel packages from San Francisco and Los Angeles that start at $899 a person.

The deal: I have written about the Timeless Beijing trip before, and now the 2012-13 dates are scheduled. The $899-a-person price is based on double occupancy and includes round-trip airfare on Air China. It also includes six nights in a four-star hotel, airport and hotel transfers, three-day escorted tours, nine meals (mostly breakfasts) and free time too.

When: Trips depart starting Nov. 18 and end Feb. 24; other dates cost more.

Tested: I found availability for this trip on Nov. 18 and Nov. 21 departures (this could work if you want to spend Thanksgiving in China). Note that the prices cited are cash prices, which means you pay a $200 deposit and then pay the rest by check or money order; add $50 for credit card purchases. Also add $170 per person for a single entry visa to China.
