London: Rosy outlook for Chelsea Flower Show’s 100th birthday
- Share via
One thing you won’t see at London’s Chelsea Flower Show: garden gnomes. The rules don’t allow any colored sculptures among the greenery on display at one of Britain’s most prestigious gardening and flower events. The show turns 100 next year -- and it’s the centerpiece of a Gardens of London tour offered by Rhode Island-based Collette Vacations.
During the eight-day tour, participants spend a members-only day at the flower show and then tour the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew as well as the Wisely garden at Windsor Castle. Hampton Court, the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey and other sights round out the highlights. The tour is the first of a dozen garden tours planned next year in conjunction with the Royal Horticultural Society.
When: The tour departs May 18.
Price: $2,849 per person, double occupancy. It includes lodgings, many meals, tours, admission to the Chelsea Flower Show and other attractions. International airfare is extra.
