Las Vegas: ‘Priscilla’ to strut its stuff at the Venetian

Share

Priscilla and her camp crew are set to march into the Mojave Desert as “Priscilla Queen of the Desert: The Musical” opens an 11-week run on June 18 at the Venetian in Las Vegas.

Fans of the 1994 movie, which morphed into a musical in Sydney, Australia, in 2006, will want to dust off their feather boas and polish up on the lyrics to Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” before opening night.

The story features a trio of friends -- two drag queens and a transsexual -- as they traverse the Australian Outback in a battered bus, searching for love during the road trip of a lifetime.

The show includes a hit parade of more than 20 dance-floor favorites, including “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” and “It’s Raining Men.”

The production features more than 500 glitzy costumes which, collectively, won a Tony Award in 2011, when the musical was playing on Broadway.

The show will be staged at 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Mondays.

Ticket prices range from $74.40 to $173.40 and are available online or by calling the Venetian box office at (866) 641-7469.
