Daily Deal: L.A.-Australia with airfare and hotel for $1,699
Here’s an inexpensive travel package to Sydney, Australia, that coincides with the city’s dazzling light festival. Travel from Los Angeles to Sydney in May or early June for $1,699 per person, which includes round-trip airfare and a week’s lodgings.
Time your trip to the Vivid Sydney fest and you’ll see the city light up with patterns projected on buildings around the city.
The deal. The Sydney on Sale package covers round-trip L.A.-Sydney airfare on Qantas Airways and seven nights at a Travelodge in the city. It’s based on double occupancy, and upgrades on flights are available for an extra $1,049 per person for premium class and $6,559 per person for business class. The package also comes with a sightseeing tour of Sydney, leaving the rest of the time to explore on your own.
When: The offer is good through March 20 for travel between May 1 and June 8, which would be late fall to early winter Down Under. The deal is available for daily departures.
Tested: I called to check availability and found the $1,699 per person rate available leaving Los Angeles on May 5 (you don’t arrive until May 7 because of time zone changes) and returning May 14. The Vivid Sydney festival of “light, music and ideas” runs from May 24 to June 10.
