Flogging Molly brings Irish punk sounds to Las Vegas in October
The seven-piece punk band Flogging Molly takes over the Boulevard Pool at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Friday, Oct. 2, bringing Irish sounds and Celtic instruments.
The band out of Los Angeles started up in 1997 when Dublin native Dave King, former Fastway acoustic guitarist and frontman, formed the group with fiddle player Bridget Regan, guitarist Dennis Casey, accordion player and former pro skateboarder Matt Hensley, bassist Nathen Maxwell, drummer George Schwindt and mandolinist Bob Schmidt.
The group is known for songs such as “Drunken Lullabies” and “Float,” from the album of the same name dubbed “one of the most important CDs of the year, if not the decade” by Alternative Press. “Requiem for a Dying Song” marked the group’s first song to chart.
In 2011, the band released its fifth album “Speed of Darkness,” which debuted on Flogging Molly’s own record label Borstal Beat.
