Infographic: Long Beach on a path for better biking

The city of Long Beach, which vowed to make itself bicycle friendly, has gathered funds from federal, state and local sources for future bike-focused projects. An annual survey on ridership conducted by Cal State Long Beach students and community volunteers has shown a steady increase in ridership since 2008.

Class I:

Proposed

Separated from motorized traffic, often off-street and near a waterway.

Class II and Cycle tracks*:

Proposed

Parallel to street traffic with painted or another barrier. Cycle tracks are separated from the street by barriers and have their own traffic signals.

Class III:

Designated routes marked by shared lane arrows and/or signage.
