New cabins soon will be available for visitors to Yosemite National Park at the 1920s-era Evergreen Lodge.

The lodge is on the west side of the park near Hetch Hetchy Valley, an area that is less well-known than other parts of Yosemite. The lodge offers numerous recreation programs, including day trips for hikers and bikers to sites such as Wapama Falls and North Dome.

The 24 cedar cabins will open in May, increasing the number of units at Evergreen to 90. The lodge will also debut a new outdoor dining area and plaza with a beer garden, restored tavern, outdoor event area, spa cabana and a new games and entertainment hall, among other upgrades.

The new cabins are set in an old-growth forest and include 10 two-bedroom units and 14 couples cabins, all furnished with king-size beds. Room rates for the new and original cabins range from $99 to $299 depending on the season and type of cabin.
