Justin Bieber popped for ‘reckless’ — maybe maniacal? — driving

Justin Bieber — maniac?

Bieber was pulled over on the 101 Freeway on Friday and cited for driving in a “reckless manner” and going faster than the speed limit, the CHP told L.A. Now, but one man who witnessed the action told the story a bit more dramatically.

That’d be L.A. City Councilman Dennis Zine, who told TMZ he was driving to work in downtown L.A. when he saw the chrome Fisker Karma weaving in and out of lighter-than-usual traffic with a trail of other cars in pursuit, some of them even driving on the shoulder during the incident.

It was, Zine told the website, “absolutely horrific.”

Bieber, who has a $6.5-million house in Calabasas, was pulled over around Vineland Avenue and Ventura Boulevard, the CHP said. He was not arrested, though it appears he could have been.

“There was hardly any space between cars as he weaved from lane to lane,” said Zine, who according to TMZ was an LAPD motor officer for years. “If I was on patrol, I would have arrested him for reckless driving. I was going 60 and he drove by me like he was in a rocket ship.

“He was a maniac.”

A maniac in a shiny $100,000 hybrid to boot. Seriously, who knew you could even break the speed limit on the Hollywood Freeway? Guess it’s a holiday week.

According to his Twitter feed, Bieber was busy Friday with the first shooting day for his “As Long As You Love Me” music video. So we have to wonder: Was he really trying to slip paparazzi, or were they all just running late for work?

Just kidding, Beliebers, just kidding.
