Rod Taylor dies at 84; star of Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds’

Legendary Hollywood actor Rod Taylor, best known for his role in Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds,” has died, his daughter Felicia Taylor confirmed to the Los Angeles Times.

Taylor died Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles, his daughter said. He was 84.

The Australia-born star appeared in numerous films throughout his career, including “The Time Machine,” “The Train Robbers” and Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds.”

Still, it was his lead role in Hitchcock’s horror-thriller “The Birds” for which Taylor was best known.

Taylor played lawyer Mitch Brenner opposite Tippi Hedren in the 1963 classic about a sudden and unexplained massive bird attack.
