Golden Globe nominees on Ricky Gervais

Ricky Gervais is back for a second year to host the Globes and says he’s going to push the comedy a little further this time, that he’ll just look around the room and spot someone to target. What might that mean for you?

“Black Swan” director Darren Aronofsky: “There will be a lot of ballet jokes. Last night, Letterman made fun of the film. I think he said, ‘If you don’t want to celebrate Christmas, you can go see two Jewish girls make out.’ ”

“Animal Kingdom” actress Jacki Weaver: “He’s right up my alley, the British ironic humor. But I look forward to him taking the piss out of me. There’s a million good Australian jokes.”

“127 Hours” director Danny Boyle: “It’ll be like a home game. Ricky will be really kind to anyone British up there. It’ll be the Americans who’ll really get it from him.” You really think so? “No! He’ll be merciless on everybody. That’s what’s great about him.”

“The King’s Speech” actor Geoffrey Rush: “I’m hoping Ricky Gervais will satirize the context of the whole event as only he can. … It’s great to have somebody who can debunk that with such wit and such ease. I think he’ll have a field day. He can go after me if he’d like. I love the license of the fool.”

“127 Hours” co-writer Simon Beaufoy: “No mercy is all one can be guaranteed. He was extraordinary [last time], especially on us for “Slumdog.” I couldn’t believe the things he was saying. It was hilarious and shocking in equal measure.”
