Barbara Walters will return to ‘The View’ next week

After more than a month away from the cameras, Barbara Walters is on her way back to “The View.”

Walters on Tuesday called in to the daytime talk show she co-created to let her co-hosts know that after a lengthy period of recovery from a fall and chicken pox, she was ready to return to TV.

“Like it or not, I’m coming back on the show again,” the 83-year-old Walters said. “No more chicken pox.... I haven’t been contagious for a while, but they wanted me to have rest, and I’ve had enough rest and I’m ready to come back.”

In January, Walters was admitted to a Washington, D.C., hospital after falling during a pre-inauguration party at the home of the British ambassador. She suffered a cut on her temple and was treated for a fever. She was later transferred to a hospital in New York City where it was then reported that she had chicken pox.

Most people get the chicken pox virus at some point in their childhood, but rare cases of adult chicken pox are considered very serious because of the chances of the infection creating other problems, such as pneumonia.

March 4 will be the day Walters resumes her place on “The View” alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sherri Shepherd and Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
