Donald Glover to create and star in new FX comedy, ‘Atlanta’

Donald Glover has a new “community”: The South.

Glover, who is best known for his role as the nerdish student “Troy” on “Community,” has been signed to star in “Atlanta,” a half-hour FX series that has received a 10-episode order. Glover is creating and will be an executive producer on the series about two cousins on their way up in the Atlanta rap scene.

“‘Atlanta’ draws on Donald’s considerable talents as a musician, actor and writer to give us something unique,” said FX’s President of Original Programming Nick Grad. The comedy is scheduled to be produced by FX Productions and air on FX in 2016.

The series will also star Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Lee Stanfield and Zazie Beetz.

Glover, who co-stars in the Matt Damon film “The Martian,” is also known as the musical artist Childish Gambino.
