Hotels continue to be the hot place for those wanting to look cool this summer. For those about to attend a dull convention at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, we salute you -- with a new bar. Suede (pictured), a Vegas-style hotel lounge, is set to open to the public Sunday, after a few private preview events held earlier this week. With its entrance on the Flower Street side of the hotel, Suede will exist separately from the Westin’s other ground-floor bar. Guests (and workers downtown) will get a more private experience than the hotel’s circular center bar, with DJs and an international staff. Not that happy hour will price anybody out of the bar: From 4 to 7 p.m. daily, well drinks, wine, draft beers and appetizers all come with a $4 price tag. . . . And speaking of hotel bars, fans of the new London West Hollywood hotel can look forward to a new bar at the current dining hot spot (featuring Gordon Ramsay) by early next year. The name for the forthcoming lounge will likely be the Mews, but that is subject to change before 2009. No word yet on the bar’s theme, as hotel owners are still plotting specifics, but we do know it will be designed by London-based David Collins Studio. . . . In other hotel-related news, recently opened Palomar Hotel’s restaurant and bar (Blvd 16) in Westwood held its grand opening soiree Tuesday evening. And finally, not to be outdone, competitor Whiskey Blue inside the W Westwood continues its “Vinyl Vixens” weekly party tonight, with special guest Tyga.
