Earthquake: 3.5 quake strikes near Pine Valley, Calif.

A shallow, magnitude-3.5 earthquake was reported Sunday morning 14 miles from Pine Valley, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 1:41 a.m. PDT at a depth of 0.6 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 27 miles from Alpine, 29 miles from San Diego Country Estates, 30 miles from Tecate, Mexico, and 246 miles from Phoenix.

In the past 10 days, there have been four earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
