Two men were injured after a small plane crashed two miles north of Apple Valley Airport on Sunday night, authorities said.
The fixed-wing, single-engine Cessna 182 went down at 7:09 p.m. after experiencing engine trouble, according to Allen Kenitzer, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration.
A photo published by the Victor Valley News showed the aircraft upside down in the desert.
As the pilot and his passenger waited for first responders to arrive at the crash site, the pilot reported that he and the passenger had hit their heads and had bloody noses, according to Jodi Miller, a spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Firefighters eventually located the men and transported them to an area hospital for treatment.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
