Woman admits to phoning Cusack
The woman accused of stalking actor John Cusack acknowledged during a court hearing Friday that she had made attempts to contact him from jail.
Emily Leatherman, 33, made the comments at a hearing in Van Nuys on whether she is mentally fit to stand trial on felony stalking charges. The judge postponed a ruling.
Los Angeles County Deputy Dist. Atty. Ann Ambrose said Leatherman had violated a restraining order by placing calls to Cusack and his security consultant from the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood.
Leatherman, who is acting as her own attorney, admitted to making the calls.
Ambrose said she would ask that Leatherman’s phone privileges be revoked if she violates the restraining order again.
Leatherman could face six years in prison if convicted. -- Harriet Ryan
