Dion Bailey contemplates possible final Coliseum game with USC

Dion Bailey enjoyed a signature moment the last time he played at the Coliseum, the USC safety intercepting a fourth-quarter pass that helped fuel an upset victory over Stanford.

Two weeks later, Bailey is preparing for Saturday’s game against No. 22 UCLA and what could be his final game at the Coliseum for the Trojans.

Bailey, a fourth-year junior, said that he would “most likely” decide before the Trojans’ bowl game whether he will make himself available for the NFL draft.

“It gets a little emotional knowing that this could be my last game in the Coliseum,” he said after practice Wednesday. “So I definitely want to go out there on Saturday and put my best foot forward to have a good memory to rely on.”

Bailey has a team-best five interceptions for a defense that must contain quarterback Brett Hundley.

The Trojans’ starting unit has played well since losing to Arizona State, 62-41, in Lane Kiffin’s final game as coach, and giving up 31 points in a victory over Arizona in Ed Orgeron’s first game as interim coach.

“Everything we’ve done up to now doesn’t matter,” Bailey said of the defense. “We’re going to be remembered for how we play against UCLA.”

USC is 6-1 under Orgeron and has won five games in a row.

“There’s no better way than to go out and beat the Bruins for him and for the seniors,” Bailey said.

Linebacker Devon Kennard, a fifth-year senior, is looking forward to playing at the Coliseum for the last time, but he does not expect to be overcome with emotion.

“I’m usually an even-keeled guy, so I’m not too worried about that,” he said. “It’s going to be an electric atmosphere and I’m excited.”

Silas Redd returns

Tailback Silas Redd practiced for the first time in more than two weeks.

The senior suffered a right knee injury against California on Sept. 9 and did not play against Stanford or Colorado.

Redd did not appear to be full speed Wednesday, but Orgeron said, “it looks like he’s going to play,” against UCLA.

Javorius Allen has started the last two games at tailback.

Seniors wore their high school jerseys during practice. Senior receiver De’Von Flournoy, however, wore a No. 1 USC jersey. Kiffin stripped Flournoy of the number in spring 2010, decreeing that players would have to earn the right to wear Nos. 1 and 43, worn by former receiver Mike Williams and safety Troy Polamalu. “No big deal,” Orgeron said of Flournoy’s jersey. “Having fun today. Let him wear it.” Asked whether he would allow players to wear Nos. 1 and 43 if he became head coach, Orgeron said, “I’m not going to answer that right now. Our focus is on UCLA and that’s all I’m going to say.” … The Trojans went to dinner Wednesday night at the Cheesecake Factory. “They love it, and so do I,” Orgeron said. ... USC will practice Thursday morning and then will be off until Friday afternoon.
