It will be another three months before the Ducks play the Calgary Flames at home again, and it might take that long for the Flames to get the Ducks’ top line out of their heads.

The performance by the line of Rickard Rakell, Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry resounded that much after carrying the Ducks to a 5-3 win Tuesday night at Honda Center.

Rakell and Perry each scored two goals and Getzlaf tied a franchise record with five assists in a much-needed rebound game that ended a three-game home winless streak and extended a historic one.

The Ducks won their 21st straight regular-season home game against Calgary, the longest home winning streak over one opponent in Ducks history. But the story was the top line.

“Every night’s not going to go that way, but we worked hard for our shots tonight,” Perry said. “We were clicking and we were kind of feeding off each other, and that’s the way we have to play.”

The win featured a goalie change and a third-period comeback sparked by Rakell. He took a stick to the face off a faceoff and went to the net to finish a feed from Perry to tie the score at 3-3 less than two minutes into the period. Rakell spat out blood on his way to the bench, but it was a small price to pay.

“I’ll take it,” Rakell said.

Rakell has been with Getzlaf and Perry for an extended period in a vote of confidence from Ducks Coach Bruce Boudreau.

“Obviously it means a lot,” Rakell said. “It helps you get this chemistry that we had tonight. We just keep working every game, and in the end, you’re going to get the bounces.”

Getzlaf sprang Perry for a breakaway on the power play and Perry beat Calgary goalie Karri Ramo five-hole at four minutes for the game winner. The Ducks’ top-ranked penalty kill staved off Calgary, which last in Anaheim on Jan.19, 2004.

Goalie John Gibson made his season debut when he relieved Anton Khudobin in the first period. Gibson, 22, has spent the season with minor league San Diego and patiently waited for a chance. He allowed one goal on 20 shots.

“You hate to give him the opportunity in those circumstances, but at the same time, he came through,” Boudreau said.

Perry and Rakell scored to tie the score at 2-2 in the first. Perry slipped a shot through the short side on Ramo. Rickard’s first goal was a pretty backhand lifted high to finish a rush off a feed from Sami Vatanen.

“We didn’t quit,” Boudreau said. “This is more like last year or the year before where we didn’t shrug our shoulders and go, ‘Oh, man, the luck’s going against us.’ We just kept coming.”

Khudobin started in place of ill Frederik Andersen and was removed after he allowed two goals, both on big rebounds that Calgary converted for a 2-0 lead.

Boudreau did not know if Andersen would travel to Arizona on Wednesday.

Giguere returns

Former Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere returned to Honda Center for the first time since his memorable postgame victory lap with fellow impending retiree Teemu Selanne in 2014, when Giguere played for Colorado.

Giguere joked that he returned to help his old team.

“I figured they needed a scorer,” Giguere said.

Giguere, the franchise leader in wins and shutouts, is a part-time television analyst in Montreal and is busy with three children and part ownership of a junior team.

“My kids are growing up,” he said. “Maybe later I’ll do [more media work].”

Facility approved

A planned public ice skating facility and part-time Ducks practice facility in Irvine was approved by the City Council, the team announced.
