Watch sideline reporter John Giannone get hit by puck at NHL game

John Giannone, a sideline reporter who covers the New York Rangers for the MSG Network, took a puck to the face during the Rangers’ 4-1 win over the New York Islanders on Thursday, but it barely made him flinch.

Rangers defenseman Marc Staal lifted the puck over the boards and accidentally hit Giannone on the nose. He received treatment from the Rangers trainer for a nasty-looking cut while still on the air.

Staal came over and apologized to Giannone after hitting him. You can watch a video of the incident above.

Giannone even sent a tweet from sideline during the game saying, “Good thing it hit me in the head. As you know, there’s not much up there.”
