This month we will preview each USC freshman who will join the team in training camp.

Player: Rasheem Green

Position: Defensive tackle/end

Number: 94

Height: 6 foot 5

Weight: 285 pounds

High school: Gardena Serra

Hometown: Los Angeles

High school: Green was named an Army All-American at Gardena Serra High. Before he suffered a season-ending knee injury in the 2014 regular season finale, Green made 23 tackles for losses, including eight sacks, and forced a fumble.

Green was high school teammates at Serra with Trojans sophomores Adoree’ Jackson and Olajuwon Tucker, redshirt freshmen Jalen Greene and Jalen Jones and freshmen John Houston, Deontay Burnett and Caleb Wilson.

USC position group breakdown: Green is among five freshmen defensive linemen.

USC listed Green as a reserve at tackle on the spring depth chart, but also included him as an end on the fall roster.

Fifth-year senior Delvon Simmons will start for a second season at tackle.

Third-year sophomore Kenny Bigelow, listed as Simmons’ backup, started working his way back into drills last spring after he was sidelined during the 2014 season because of a knee injury. Bigelow redshirted his freshman season.

Green will compete with Bigelow and 6-foot-6, 330-pound freshman Noah Jefferson to back up Simmons, according to the depth chart.

Season prediction for Green: Either Jefferson or Green will rotate on the line, and the other could redshirt.
