Don’t just sit there. Vote! You have a few hours left before voting ends at midnight Monday in our first ever Battle of the Burgers. We received nearly 90 entries. You, dear readers, are voting on your favorites.

We’ll take the top 10 vote-getters and, starting Tuesday, put them to the test in the L.A. Times Test Kitchen. We’ll publish our favorites in print on June 30, just in time for your 4th of July barbecue planning.

By my unofficial survey, the three top vote-getters so far couldn’t be more different. There’s the German Cuban Pork Burger that combines pork, bratwurst and bacon, and finishes off with a mustard-butter slathered pretzel roll. That recipe comes to us from Robert Burmeister of Staten Island.

Brooks Walker of Folsom is known for his sweets (check out his blog CakeWalker) but he has proven he can do battle in the realm of the savory as well. The recipe for his Red, White and Blueberry Burger, pictured above, includes homemade brown sugar burger buns, a blueberry chipotle barbecue sauce and fried onions. Sweet, indeed.

And then there’s the Chesapeake Surf & Turf Burger by Maria Orem of Santa Clara. Take a sirloin patty, add a Maryland crabcake, lemon herb butter and a kaiser roll.

So, again, don’t just sit there, vote!

And keep checking back at the blog this week, we’ll keep you posted on all the burger tasting in the Times Test Kitchen.
