Padilla: “I didn’t do anything”

Dodgers pitcher Vicente Padilla spoke briefly Sunday morning about the domestic violence allegation made against him Saturday morning, an allegation for which Denver police said there was no evidence to support criminal charges. Padilla spoke through translator Kenji Nimura.
Q: What happened?
A: Nothing happened. If something happened, I would have been arrested.
Q: Why did the police come to the team hotel and speak with you?
A: She called.
Q: Were you concerned that you would be arrested?
A: No, not really, because I didn’t do anything. Why would I get arrested if I didn’t do anything?
Q: She alleged you hit her. Did you?
A: No.
Q: Are you relieved that no charges will be filed?
A: I didn’t really do anything. There’s no sense of being relieved.
Q: What is your relationship with the woman?
A: Just a friend. Leave it to your imagination.
Q: How concerned are you that your reputation might be damaged because you were accused of domestic violence, even if no charges will be filed?
A: I don’t really have to worry about anything. I didn’t really do anything. I think my reputation would be damaged if I was arrested.
