Spring fever has arrived early. Muscle cars are back in fashion and they’re fetching big, big money. The Dodge Challenger and Corvette ZR-1 have already graced this blog, but this news just in...

Over in Scottsdale, Arizona, the first ‘retailable’ 2009 ZR-1 ’Vette (MSRP $100,000) was auctioned off at a Barrett-Jackson bid-fest for one million bucks. And at the same event, another bidder pledged $400,000 for the first 2008 Challenger (an SRT8 version) that rolls off the production line this summer. The good thing is that a couple of charities will benefit from such largesse.

On February 12, the Challenger numbered 43 (which will sport a one-off blue paint job) is set to be auctioned on eBay. The standard Challenger has a sticker price of $40,000, but -- due to the age-old capitalist law of supply and demand -- dealers are expected to load another $20,000 on top. Nice to know the recession is over.
