About 1.5 million Durabrand DVD players were recalled by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and the Consumer Product Safety Commission after reports of fire hazards.

The DVD players, which were sold exclusively at Wal-Mart, can overheat and burn consumers or start a fire, the commission said.

Wal-Mart has received 12 reports of the small, silver DVD players overheating, including incidents of fires that caused property damage, the commission said.

No injuries have been reported so far, the commission said.

The Chinese-made DVD players came with a remote control and sold for about $29 at Wal-Mart locations across the U.S. from January 2006 to July 2009, the agency said.

Wal-Mart is offering a refund, the commission said.
