The Kings claimed defenseman Randy Jones off waivers today and placed defenseman Alec Martinez on the injured reserve list because of an ankle injury.

Jones, 28, has played the entire season with the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL (Philadelphia’s affiliate) and has one point and six penalty minutes in six games. Last season, he had eight points and 22 penalty minutes in 47 games with the Philadelphia Flyers. He has 69 points and 134 penalty minutes in 217 career NHL regular-season games.

Martinez’s placement on the IR has been made retroactive to Oct. 5. He’s played in one game for the Kings this season.
