Vincent Bejar, 24, a Latino man, was shot in the 15100 block of Eucalyptus Avenue in Bellflower at 1:29 p.m Monday, Sept. 1. The man was taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Ruben Vives is a general assignment reporter for the Los Angeles Times. A native of Guatemala, he got his start in journalism by writing for The Times’ Homicide Report in 2007.
